English course review and self-evaluation

Imagen
This semester I have had my first English course (English 3) and my experience has been really good.   My opinion on in-person  classes and Zoom classes is that they have been excellent, because I have been able to study some of the English grammar that I had forgotten or did not know, and I have also been able to practice my listening and my speaking in the language. In this sense the blog posts have allowed me to practice writing and be able to gradually think in English a little and not translate everything from Spanish. I write and speak English almost nothing out of class, but I do hear it very often passively through the music in this language, and actively through the films and series that I see. Finally, for me English is a very important tool that allows the possibility of going to the vast majority of countries and being able to communicate, at least the basics, with many people. It's for this reason that I personally need to greatly improve my ability to...

Changes in the degree of sociology

Imagen
I choose this career and this university on purpose, and I don't  regret it. Also  I don't have a great knowledge of the functioning of the university.  In this sense,  it's possible that many of the things that I would like to change from the degree of sociology in Universidad de Chile are very difficult to do or simply the result of my ignorance about the internal logic of the university.    With all of this in mind,  I personally think it would be a good idea to change the total length of the university career. This is because five years, counting the two research works and the work practice, are really long, and it might be possible to shorten it a year as it is already done in other parts of the world. For me the curriculum is quite complete, however perhaps it would be better if there were more specialization courses. In this way students could focus more time on the specific area of sociology that interests them.  When it comes to infr...

Ancient Egypt

Imagen
If I could travel back in time I would like to go to ancient egypt, this is  because since I was a child I have found fascinating the history, the architecture, the sculpture, and all the relics that are preserved until the present time of ancient Egypt.    The exact date in which I would like to go is difficult to say, according to historians the time of greatest splendor of the Egyptian civilization was in the so-called XVIII dynasty, and it happened between the years 1575 and 1295 BC.  Based on this I would like to travel back in time a little over three thousand years ago.      It's difficult to answer the question of whether I would like to stay there or not.  Without being an expert, I imagine that at that time there was a rigid social structure in which I would most likely have to work in very difficult conditions or even conditions of slavery. I t would also be very interesting to be able to interact with an egpicium of t...

A job I would like to do: Sea diver

Imagen
Although it is very difficult and unlikely, I think it would be interesting to be a professional diver for a while. As far as I know, the most common work occupations of a diver have to do with the construction and maintenance of submarine installations, works linked to the exploitation of natural resources, and scientific research. I have never dived in my life, however I think it must be awesome the sensation of being and moving under the water for a long time, and of course must be a difficult activity in which it takes a lot of concentration and practice. In that sense, I think to be a professional diver you must need a very good physical condition, a great management of the diving technique, a great management of the diving equipment, good swimming ability, among many other things. On the other hand, I have the impression that it must be quite dangerous to be a professional diver, because depending on which sea or ocean this work is done, there must be the possibility of ...
